The Howitzer unit has been removed for being redundant -- it basically was just a strictly better Grapeshot at the cost of being more expensive, which is pretty boring. Instead, it has been replaced by the Riflemen, a more powerful non-cavalry unit. I hope to soon balance the three cavalry units and the three non-cavalry units to have some interesting, strategic trade-offs. As always, full discussion will occur in the forums.

For the next few days, there may be occasional game script outages while I work on fixing bugs that have been identified. As always, full discussion will occur in the forums.

You are not forgotten. This game is not forgotten. I thank everyone who has still kept up interest with this game as it has stagnated over the past three weeks. There is still a lot of interest in this game -- more than I thought there would be at this point. I am very personally invested in this game (financially too; this costs money). However, I have dived head first into everything my college (the lovely Denison University) has to offer, and am still struggling to find time to program.

I will find time, though! Unfortunately World 1 won't be ready when I thought it would be. Because of your interest, I still have a very sizable to-do list. Instead of launching World 1 now as planned, I am going to complete the to-do list over the course of the next month or two. This is to ensure World 1 is my best work and not some shoddy game I put up for the sake of having something "on time". I want this game to be good. Thanks for being here with me.

As always, I remind people still playing that all the community action happens in the forums, so I really suggest you register and start discussing.

I am starting to move to college, so updates and responses to forum posts might be a little bit scarce than normal for the next few days. I still intend to keep to the six-week end plan for the beta world as best as possible, but you -- the wonderful community -- has suggested so much that my to-do list / queue is still overflowing and I want as much of that list done as possible before World 1 starts.

By the way, if you're reading this and playing this game, and still haven't checked out the forums, I really suggest you do so, since that's where the majority of the community is currently taking place.

The troop script needs to be tweaked yet again after more bugs have been discovered. Furthermore, the game is migrating to a more stable server. Both these events mean that the game is going to be offline for some of tonight while things get fixed and moved around. Thank you for your patience, and here's to no outages once World 1 is running.

EDIT: The game is back online.

Aug.17.2010

All the army queues have been made to automatically finish, so you may be recieving a lot of queued troops early. This is because a glitch has been found in the troop building script. Unfortunately, in fixing it I will have to rewrite some of the code, which will change how the database parses troop building (but not how you see it in the game, don't worry). Troop building won't work for a few moments, but I hope to get the new script up and running shortly.

EDIT: The game is back online.

Aug.11.2010

The game now has randomly scattered tiles that make up about 7.5% of the map. These include "plains", "forests", "mountains", and "hills", all of which convey special bonuses if you put resource mines on them.

Aug.03.2010

After a full 24 hours of launch, I have had 35 users register, and have corrected countless glitches that those users have discovered. 32 of those 35 users went on to complete registration, and 26 of those users have gone on to build something, with two people hitting double digit points. And all these statistics don't even count me!

Of those users (not counting me), 13 of them went on to register in the forum and post over 300 posts about the game. That's dedication.

So thanks for what I consider a very successful beta world launch, and keep them coming!

Settlement Fight is live! After over 500 hours of work over two summers by just one man (me), Settlement Fight is ready for a six-week public, open beta that starts now. Of course there will be bugs, and there will be balance issues, because there is only so much I can do myself. Please help me out by playing the game and reporting any problems in the game's wonderful forum.
